Islamabad: On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan acknowledged the indispensable role of a free and independent press in promoting truth, transparency, and responsible journalism in Pakistan and globally.
Khan emphasized the contribution of the media in creating informed societies, reinforcing democratic values, and driving inclusive economic development. He noted that as Pakistan continues to build its economic framework, the media acts as a crucial link among policymakers, businesses, and the public through its accurate reporting and constructive dialogue.
The Commerce Ministry, he stated, is committed to promoting sustainable trade, attracting investment, and enhancing Pakistan’s global market participation. These objectives, Khan asserted, depend on an environment where freedom of expression is upheld and information flows freely.
Khan urged the media to persist in showcasing Pakistan’s commercial opportunities, industrial accomplishments, and dedication to international collaboration. He called for a joint effort to uphold press freedom as a cornerstone of progress, both domestically and internationally.
