Islamabad, March 15, 2022 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mr. Shibli Faraz along with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Mr. Syed Fakhar Imam visited National Agriculture Research Council (NARC) to witness the very first demonstration of precision planter machine Food security and sustainable agricultural yields are the main responsibilities of the governments and a major goal United Nation’s (UN) sustainable development goals (SDG # 02). The precision planter machine will increase the agriculture yields while decreasing the wastage of seeds during seeding process.

This technology can primarily be used for wheat, maize, and cotton. According to NARC, the machine has accuracy of more than 90%. The Federal Minister, while speaking on the occasion, expressed his desire for development of indigenous machinery for agriculture and stated that Ministry of Science and Technology has identified agriculture sector as a priority in its initiative of development of import substitutes. He also expressed that Ministry of Science and Technology is working towards achievement of SDG #07 that tasks the nations to provide its citizens clean and affordable energy.
