Islamabad: In a recent visit to the EHFPRO Lifestyle Residencia Apartments and Kashmir Avenue Apartments located in G-13, Islamabad, Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada expressed significant concerns over delays in construction. Accompanied by Secretary Housing and Works, Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash, and other high-ranking officials, the Minister inspected the progress of these key housing projects and addressed issues related to their delayed timelines.
According to Press Information Department, the briefing given by the Project Director of EHFPRO and the Director Technical of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), along with the Director General, FGE Housing Authority, Captain (Retd.) Zafar Muhammad Iqbal, outlined the current status and challenges of the projects. The Federal Minister was critical of the EHFPRO project management for not adhering to the scheduled progress and emphasized the importance of accountability in handling the allottees’ investments.
During his visit, Minister Pirzada highlighted the impact of such projects on the construction sector and its over 40 associated industries. He stressed that these projects are not just about infrastructure development but are crucial for economic growth and providing employment opportunities to the skilled youth, thereby aiding in poverty alleviation. The Minister issued a stern warning against any corrupt practices within the Housing Authority and enforced a zero-tolerance policy towards delays and corruption.
Furthermore, Minister Pirzada instructed the EHFPRO management to resolve all legal issues promptly and ensure that construction resumes by the end of October 2024. He made it clear that delays under any circumstances will not be tolerated, underscoring the projects’ vital role in national development.
