Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Mr. Nocholas Galey, the Ambassador of France to Pakistan, at the Finance Division. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik and Chairman FBR Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, where they discussed issues of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation and collaboration in trade, commerce, and socio-economic sectors.
According to Press Information Department, Senator Aurangzeb provided an update on Pakistan’s economic status, highlighting significant improvements in macroeconomic indicators over the past 14 months. He mentioned managing twin deficits, stable currency, increasing remittances, and rising foreign reserves as factors that could enable Pakistan to access international capital markets in the coming months for enhanced institutional flows. The Minister emphasized ongoing reforms in various sectors, such as taxation, energy, privatization, and governance, aimed at transforming the economy for export-led growth and attracting foreign direct investment to generate exportable surplus.
Mr. Nocholas Galey acknowledged the government’s reform agenda and the macroeconomic stability achieved. He also appreciated the government’s commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability by meeting the structural benchmarks agreed with the IMF.
