Shamakhi: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, met with Ms. Fatma Varank, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister for Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, to discuss their shared vision for the upcoming COP31. The meeting occurred in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the COP31 Heads of Delegations Retreat.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions focused on developing joint programs in preparation for COP31, with an emphasis on electric vehicles, electrification, energy efficiency, and enhancing the recycling industry. Both parties expressed a commitment to launching these initiatives before the conference hosted by Türkiye.

Dr. Malik informed the Turkish delegation about two initiatives by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination: the “Green Field” Programme and the “Green University.” The “Green Field” Programme aims to support young entrepreneurs in creating innovative climate solutions, while the “Green University” seeks to establish a global platform for research and academic exchanges to drive commercially viable research and innovation.

The two sides agreed to announce significant developments regarding these initiatives at COP31 and to explore deeper cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. Additionally, Dr. Malik conveyed the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s regards to Türkiye’s leadership for their role in addressing climate change. Both Dr. Malik and Ms. Varank underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to advance practical climate solutions.
