Islamabad: In a recent meeting with representatives from K-Electric, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, discussed strategies to enhance electricity service delivery and expedite new generation projects in Karachi. The discussion also covered financial challenges, including the delayed payments of consumer bills collected through post offices.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting at the Finance Division included K-Electric’s CEO, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, CFO Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, and Chief Regulatory Affairs Muhammad Imran Qureshi. The K-Electric team highlighted the progress following an agreement with the government earlier this year, which has paved the way for the implementation of new generation projects aimed at improving the electricity mix in Karachi.
Minister Aurangzeb responded to concerns about the delayed payments, assuring the delegation that the government would address these issues promptly. He urged K-Electric to focus on improving service delivery and accelerating its plans to incorporate cheaper generation capacity, which would ultimately help reduce electricity costs for consumers in Karachi.
