Federal Minister Announces Increase in M-Tag Usage to 92%, Revenue Boost at National Highway Authority


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications, Board of Investment & Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan presided over a pivotal meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA) where future improvements were mandated to be implemented swiftly. During the meeting, the minister was informed about the substantial increase in M-Tag usage and the corresponding rise in revenue, following the enforcement of previous directives.



According to Press Information Department, the NHA Chairman briefed Minister Khan on the implementation of his strategies, which led to a surge in M-Tag adoption by over 92% of motorists, coupled with a notable revenue uptick in the past six months. The minister, pleased with these advancements, emphasized the necessity for NHA to transition to a high-tech operational framework, ensuring that all functions are conducted online as quickly as possible. He stressed the importance of a top-tier tracking system on all highways to enhance monitoring and security.



Further, Minister Khan instructed the NHA to synchronize its operations with the Motorway Police using cutting-edge technology, aiming to handle unexpected events efficiently. He highlighted that continuous updates and daily data management through newly established dashboards are critical for maintaining operational excellence.



Additionally, the minister recognized the efforts of the NHA staff in achieving these results and announced that the Prime Minister would award certificates of appreciation to the officers responsible. On a related note, Minister Khan also paid tribute to the martyrs of recent military actions in North and South Waziristan and commended the security forces for their decisive actions against terrorism, reinforcing the national resolve against such threats.
