Federal Minister and Ulema Council Chairman Discuss Religious Harmony and Anti-Terrorism Efforts


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Chaudhry Salik Hussain recently met with Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi to deliberate on using religious platforms to address challenges faced by Muslims and advance the teachings of the Prophet.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the role of scholars and religious leaders in promoting harmony and tolerance through the pulpit and prayer niche. Minister Hussain highlighted the necessity for collaboration among the government, institutions, and scholars to secure a better future for the younger generation, emphasizing that a unified message from scholars would have a significant impact. He stressed the importance of halting the misuse of Islam’s name and ensuring the implementation of scholars’ recommendations on combating terrorism.



Chairman Ashrafi noted the influence of international lobbies on Pakistan’s internal affairs and recognized the sacrifices made by various sectors, including the armed forces, in the fight against terrorism. He reiterated the rejection of extremism by scholars and affirmed that legal measures are consistently applied against such threats. Ashrafi also advocated for interfaith harmony through the promotion of love, equality, tolerance, and coexistence.



Additionally, Ashrafi mentioned that allowing installment payments for Hajj would aid the middle class, while Minister Hussain reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring excellent arrangements for the pilgrimage.
