The meeting, which included the Secretary of Planning and all female staff members, highlighted several initiatives, including the establishment of a Gender Unit and a state-of-the-art daycare facility, to enhance women’s participation and ensure a secure work environment.

According to Press Information Department, the committee meeting chaired by Minister Ahsan Iqbal was part of a broader effort by the government to address issues of harassment and to promote an inclusive atmosphere at the workplace. The Minister emphasized the government’s duty to safeguard the rights and well-being of women employees, asserting that the security and confidence of female staff are paramount for their effective contribution to national development.

The establishment of the Gender Unit by the Ministry shortly after the current government took office aims to increase female participation in the developmental process and to make the Ministry a model of safety and empowerment for women. Minister Iqbal underscored the importance of women’s involvement in all sectors of society, stating that no progress could be achieved without their active participation, which constitutes 50% of the population.

Furthermore, the introduction of a daycare facility is designed to provide working mothers with peace of mind, enabling them to concentrate on their professional responsibilities while ensuring the safety and care of their children. Minister Iqbal also assured that the Ministry would uphold a policy of non-discrimination, ensuring that all female employees are treated with respect and equality.

During the course of the meeting, female officers and staff members were given the opportunity to voice their concerns and provide feedback directly to the Federal Minister, enhancing communication and addressing specific issues related to workplace safety and gender equality.
