Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently held a meeting with Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan. The discussion focused on reinforcing peace, countering terrorism and sectarianism, and promoting religious harmony and inter-sect unity across the nation.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting addressed the crucial role of religious scholars in developing a national narrative against terrorism. Minister Naqvi revealed plans to launch a national campaign consulting scholars from various sects to bolster the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that the battle against terrorism is critical for the survival of Pakistan and highlighted the importance of maintaining national unity to thwart the enemy’s attempts to create unrest.
Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad supported the government’s stance by referencing “Paigham-e-Pakistan,” a narrative that denounces terrorism, extremism, and sectarianism as forbidden (haram). He lauded the efforts of Minister Naqvi towards establishing peace and called for collective efforts to enhance inter-sect and interfaith harmony and national unity, especially in the current challenging times. He also commended the nation’s unwavering support for the armed forces and security agencies in their ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and extremism.
