Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a critical meeting with Hamish Falconer, the British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Pakistan, Middle East, North Africa, and Afghanistan, to discuss enhancing Pakistan-UK bilateral relations. The meeting, which included British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK Dr. Muhammad Faisal, underscored the importance of mutual cooperation and joint actions against social media misinformation.
According to Press Information Department, the discussions focused on the need for strong coordination between the two countries on broader bilateral and regional issues. Naqvi expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with the UK, describing the UK as a strong and best friend. He emphasized transforming mutual cooperation into a sustainable economic partnership and welcomed Falconer’s visit as a step towards warmer relations.
The Interior Minister also addressed the need for joint efforts to combat baseless social media propaganda and misinformation. He highlighted that minorities in Pakistan have equal rights, affirming that their protection is a top priority for the government.
