Federal Insurance Ombudsman Discusses Performance with Sindh Chief Minister


Karachi: During a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday, Federal Insurance Ombudsman Syed Mumtaz Shah briefed Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the achievements and operational scope of his office.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, the Ombudsman informed the Chief Minister about the Karachi-based headquarters of the Federal Insurance Ombudsman and its regional offices in cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Lahore, Multan, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta. Mumtaz Shah detailed how his office effectively resolves complaints from insurance policyholders by ensuring both parties are heard, and how it has provided significant relief to policyholders by delivering transparent, fair, and prompt justice within 60 days.



The Ombudsman reported that last year, the institution handled nearly 5,000 complaints against insurance companies, providing relief worth Rs 5 billion through urgent orders. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah lauded the efforts and dedication of Syed Mumtaz Shah, recognizing his extensive experience and previous service as Chief Secretary of Sindh. The Chief Minister expressed appreciation for Mumtaz Shah’s capabilities and public service, ensuring continued support and cooperation from his office.
