ISLAMABAD, In commemoration of World Stroke Day, Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Federal Health Minister, underlined the necessity for a unified approach to battle the disease. Emphasizing the significance of public awareness and preventive actions, Dr. Jan stated that with coordinated efforts, up to 90% of strokes can be averted.
According to Press Information Department, the World Stroke Day event was orchestrated at the Ministry of NHSR and C in partnership with the World Stroke Society. The Health Minister, overseeing the event, voiced his commitment to ensuring that the Ministry of Health would undertake all essential measures to augment public awareness about stroke prevention.
Further elaborating on the proactive stance, Dr. Jan mentioned the Ministry’s plan to instate preventive strategies at primary and secondary healthcare levels. Training sessions for paramedical staff and doctors across multiple hospitals will be organized to effectively manage and treat stroke. Additionally, the Health Minister shed light on the ongoing reforms within the health sector during the current government’s tenure, focusing primarily on fortifying the primary healthcare infrastructure.
A noteworthy initiative includes the renovation of 460 primary health centers nationwide. This endeavour will be supported by the World Health Organization, ensuring that there are no financial burdens placed on the government’s budget. Moreover, the Minister underscored the promotion of a referral system aimed at alleviating the pressure on major hospitals. Concluding his address, Dr. Jan urged collective participation in elevating the health sector’s standards and services.
