Islamabad: The Federal Government has initiated a significant crackdown on smuggling activities as part of its broader strategy to bolster the national economy. This initiative aims to curb the illegal flow of goods across borders, including essential commodities and petroleum products.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the first week of this month alone, enforcement agencies successfully seized 126.4 metric tons of sugar, 4 metric tons of flour, 3,252 sticks of cigarettes, and approximately one million liters of Iranian oil. These seizures are part of the ongoing efforts by relevant departments to address smuggling issues that undermine economic stability.
The operations are ongoing, with the departments involved reaffirming their commitment to continue vigorous enforcement actions to stem the tide of smuggled goods into the country. This crackdown is essential for protecting local industries and ensuring that the economy functions without the distortions introduced by illegal import activities.
