Federal Government Commits Support to Punjab Police Against Gangsters

Rahim Yar Khan: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has pledged comprehensive support from the Federal Government to assist the Punjab Police in their ongoing efforts against gang violence, particularly following the tragic Machka incident that resulted in the loss of twelve police officers. Naqvi announced the decision during a press interaction at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan, where he also stated that the martyred officers would be posthumously awarded the ‘Tamgha-e-Shujaat’ for their bravery.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Interior Minister expressed a strong commitment to ensuring that all perpetrators linked to the attack are apprehended and brought to justice. His visit also included a trip to the Police Lines in Rahim Yar Khan, where he participated in the funeral prayers for the deceased officers and offered condolences to their families and colleagues.

Further outlining the government’s strategy, Naqvi presided over a security briefing at the Rahim Yar Khan Airport lounge, attended by representatives from Punjab Police, Rangers Punjab, and Sindh Police. During the meeting, he emphasized the necessity of arming the police force with the latest weaponry to effectively counteract the criminal elements in the Katcha area. A coordinated operation has been directed to eradicate the threat posed by these miscreants, with Naqvi affirming that the efforts will continue until the complete elimination of the last dacoit.
