Federal Finance Minister Meets with Rice Exporters to Discuss Agricultural Growth and Tax Measures

Islamabad: In a pivotal meeting held at the Finance Division today, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, engaged with representatives from the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) to discuss enhancements in agricultural productivity and potential tax reforms.

According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 10 July 2024, the representatives from REAP briefed the Minister on the recent advancements in the agriculture sector, particularly in rice cultivation, and proposed specific tax measures to further boost the sector’s growth. Senator Aurangzeb lauded the delegation for their significant contribution to achieving a record $8 billion in rice exports, recognizing agriculture as a critical driver of Pakistan’s economic growth.

He emphasized the need for improving rice yields and value addition to enhance the quality of exports. The Minister assured the delegation of the government’s continued support and encouraged ongoing efforts to solidify Pakistan’s standing in the international market. The discussions concluded with a mutual pledge to foster agricultural growth and maximize export potential.
