Islamabad: In an effort to fortify Pakistan’s automotive sector, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has pledged robust support for local truck manufacturers, aiming to boost the country’s industrial and export capabilities.
According to Press Information Department, during a meeting with the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) held on Tuesday, Minister Khan addressed various challenges facing the industry. He expressed the government’s dedication to enhancing the local manufacturing sector, which is seen as vital for expanding Pakistan’s exports and advancing industrialization.
Minister Khan announced plans to personally visit truck manufacturing facilities to better understand their operations and needs. “If our trucks meet international standards, it is imperative that we support our local industry,” he remarked, emphasizing the potential of domestic manufacturers to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s export growth.
PAMA members voiced concerns over special import incentives that they believe could undermine local production. In response, Minister Khan acknowledged these issues, agreeing with PAMA spokesperson Waheed on the need for government intervention to foster a more favorable policy environment that supports local manufacturers and ensures their long-term viability.
This meeting underscores a critical period of growth for the Pakistani automotive sector, as it seeks to navigate the challenges of global standards and market competitiveness.
