Federal Cabinet Sets Plan to Boost Trade via Gwadar Port

Islamabad: In a recent cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a comprehensive strategy was approved to amplify both exports and imports through Gwadar Port, marking a significant push to enhance Pakistan’s trade capabilities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the cabinet has directed the formation of a subcommittee responsible for monitoring and reporting on the trade activities at Gwadar Port quarterly. This move is part of a broader effort to utilize the port’s full potential in boosting the national economy.

Additionally, the cabinet ratified a Memorandum of Understanding with Sri Lanka for the issuance of a commemorative postal stamp, celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This gesture underscores the deep-rooted ties and ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The cabinet session also reflected on past decisions, particularly regarding sugar exports, which have successfully garnered valuable foreign exchange while maintaining domestic sugar prices at stable levels.
