Federal Cabinet decides to relax visa policy for Afghan nationals

Islamabad, December 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain says Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar and Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal will visit Gwadar to sort out the issue of fishermen protesting there. He was briefing media about the decisions taken in meeting of federal cabinet held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair. The Information Minister said Prime Minister has already taken notice of matter and directed for stern action in this regard.

He said a 700 billion rupees development package has been announced by federal government for southern Balochistan. About Electronic Voting Machines, Chaudhary Fawad said Ministry of Science and Technology is ready to provide EVM to the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said all political parties should play their positive role on the issue of electronic voting machines. He said Election Commission of Pakistan should now issue tenders for Electronic Voting Machines. The Information Minister said federal cabinet has decided to relax visa policy for Afghan nationals.

He said prices of essential food items are low in Pakistan as compared to other countries of the region. The Information Minister said Special Assistant on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan gave a briefing on preventive measures regarding new Corona variant, Omicron. The cabinet emphasized the need to increase vaccinations, maintaining social distance and wearing masks. The Cabinet was informed that, at present, twenty million people in Pakistan have not been vaccinated with second dose of Corona Vaccine.

The Information Minister said Cabinet approved amendment in bilateral air route between Pakistan and Tajikistan. The decision will reduce both air distance and travel costs. The Cabinet also allowed Kazakh Air Company to operate in Pakistan.

The decision will enable direct air travel between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and help boost bilateral trade. To promote trade between Pakistan and Central Asian countries, the Cabinet directed the Aviation Division to start work on finalizing air travel agreements with all Central Asian countries.

The Information Minister said the forum approved amendment to air travel agreement between Pakistan and Iraq. The decision will increase number of commercial flights between Pakistan and Iraq. The Cabinet approved extension of period for exchange of old Pakistani ten, fifty, hundred and thousand currency notes by the end of next year.
