Islamabad, In a significant move towards enhancing transparency and efficiency, the Federal Cabinet has sanctioned open bidding for the engagement of a Category-A firm to audit the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). This decision was reached during a meeting in Islamabad, presided over by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Ha Kakar, signaling a pivotal step towards aligning NADRA’s audit processes with international standards.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the cabinet’s approval aims to ensure the audit of NADRA achieves greater efficiency and transparency. By opting for open bidding, the government intends to provide an equal opportunity to all audit firms that are registered with the State Bank of Pakistan under Category A. This approach is expected to foster a competitive environment, ensuring that the audit is conducted by a firm with the requisite expertise and a proven track record in handling audits of similar stature and complexity.
Additionally, the cabinet has also approved the rebranding of the ‘Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan’ project as the ‘National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT).’ This move is part of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and safeguard against cyber threats, enhancing national cyber security measures.
