Federal Board of Revenue to Expedite Sales Tax Refund Claims on Prime Minister’s Orders

Islamabad, The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been directed to accelerate the process of sales tax refund claims, ensuring that all such claims are decided within a 30-day timeframe. This move comes on the directives of the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the refund process and provide relief to taxpayers.

According to Federal Board of Revenue, the instructions were disseminated to all field formations, with Chief Commissioners across the board being mandated to strictly adhere to the 30-day decision window for all deferred sales tax refund claims. Additionally, directives have also been issued for personal monitoring by the Chief Commissioners to ensure the thorough implementation of these instructions.

This step by the FBR, under the orders of the Prime Minister, represents a significant move towards addressing the concerns of businesses and individuals awaiting sales tax refunds. By expediting the refund process, the government aims to improve cash flow for taxpayers, which is critical for the sustainability and growth of businesses, especially in the current economic climate.
