Thatta: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized the coalition government’s commitment to advancing Pakistan’s development through strategic projects while addressing the media during his visit to the Coastal Highway Keti Bandar Project. Provincial ministers from Sindh accompanied him on this evaluation tour, underscoring the government’s focus on uplifting underdeveloped areas, including coastal regions.
According to Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), Professor Iqbal highlighted the importance of the Coastal Highway project, which has garnered financial backing from both federal and provincial governments. The federal government is contributing 37 percent of the project’s cost to enhance infrastructure in Sindh’s coastal areas. This initiative is expected to counteract the encroachment of the sea on thousands of acres of land, boost tourism, and stimulate the fisheries industry, thereby creating employment opportunities.
The ministers underscored the importance of political unity, with Professor Iqbal praising major political parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan Peoples Party for collaborating on national matters. He also reiterated the government’s dedication to educational and employment reforms, aiming to establish a robust economic foundation for the future. The discussion also touched upon efforts to implement the Pakistan Water Treaty and plans to develop the country’s most disadvantaged districts.
