Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new digital system, ePayment 2.0, as part of its efforts to enhance tax administration and revenue collection in Pakistan. This system is accessible through the IRIS 2.0 portal, allowing for secure and efficient online tax payments. It provides a user-friendly experience by enabling taxpayers to make payments directly from their bank accounts using internet banking, ATMs, and mobile banking, thereby eliminating the need for physical bank visits. The ePayment 2.0 system covers a variety of taxes, including Income Tax, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, and Withholding Taxes.
According to Federal Board of Revenue, the ePayment 2.0 system presents a unified interface within the IRIS 2.0 platform, simplifying the process for both registered and unregistered taxpayers. Previously, taxpayers had to use a separate ePayment system, which required switching between portals. Now, they can generate a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID) for quick payments and receive a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) via email and SMS. This development ensures official confirmation and easy access for future use within the system.
The system’s multi-step workflow allows for precise transactions by generating a PSID and completing payments through ADC channels, delivering a CPR in real-time. It includes a PSID search feature for easy retrieval and confirmation of payment records, minimizing errors and delays. This automation supports FBR’s vision for a compliant, business-friendly tax environment.
Ms. Aisha Farooq, Director General (IT&DT), inaugurated the ePayment System at PRAL Headquarters in Islamabad. Her presence highlighted the system’s strategic importance in FBR’s modernization efforts, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing taxpayer convenience and improving operational efficiency. The ePayment 2.0 system simplifies the tax payment process by unifying it within the IRIS 2.0 platform, making compliance more accessible. This innovation demonstrates FBR’s leadership in digital tax administration and its dedication to fostering a digitally progressive Pakistan.
