Islamabad, The Federal Board of Revenue’s Inland Revenue Service teams have carried out a significant national operation against the illegal tobacco trade, resulting in substantial seizures.
According to Press Information Department, the operation conducted on January 13, 2024, led to the confiscation of 1,377 Packerites, equivalent to 13.77 million cigarette sticks, of non-duty paid or counterfeit cigarettes. These included both local and foreign brands. The entire exercise was supervised by Member Inland Revenue Operations, Mir Badshah Khan Wazir. The operation underscores the government’s firm stance against revenue evasion, with a warning that those involved in such illegal activities will face strict penal proceedings.
