FAST National University Chiniot Campus Celebrates 8th Annual Convocation with Notable Guests


Chiniot: The 8th Annual Convocation of FAST National University Chiniot Campus was held with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, serving as the Chief Guest. Presided over by Dr. Aftab Maroof, Rector of FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, the ceremony also featured Bashir Jan Mohammad, Chancellor of the Institute of Business Management and Chairman of Westbury Group of Companies, as a special guest.



According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh highlighted his role in the establishment and growth of the FAST National University Chiniot Campus. He noted the increase in student numbers, particularly the higher enrollment of female students compared to other institutions, viewing it as a symbol of social change. Over 4,500 students have graduated from this campus, many achieving notable success. Shaikh also discussed the ongoing construction of the Government College University Faisalabad Chiniot campus, expected to be completed by December 2024 with a budget of 190 crore rupees. This project aims to enhance the quality of higher education in the region.



The Federal Minister emphasized Chiniot’s strategic location in central Punjab, making it accessible to over 180 million people, and described the city as an emerging economic and educational hub. The event also saw Bashir Jan Mohammad announce financial assistance of 25 lakh rupees for underprivileged students, aimed at easing their educational expenses. A total of 369 students graduated, with a breakdown of 350 bachelor’s degrees, 17 MS/MBA degrees, and 2 PhDs, along with cash rewards for medalists to recognize their academic achievements.



The convocation witnessed active participation from students and faculty across various departments, including Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Business Administration. It was attended by students’ parents, faculty, and numerous guests, marking a significant milestone in Chiniot’s educational progress and underscoring a commitment to improving education quality locally and nationally.
