Srinagar, September 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government disallowed the family of the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Gilani, to perform his burial at Martyrs’ Graveyard (Mazar-e-Shuhada) at Eidgah in Srinagar.

As the family was preparing for the last rites of Syed Ali Gilani, a heavy contingent of Indian forces raided his residence in Srinagar, harassed the family members and snatched the dead body of the veteran leader.

When the family members told the raiding party that Syed Gilani’s will was to be buried at the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Eidgah in Srinagar, they were reportedly told that India would not allow his burial at the place of his choosing.

In the course of resistance, Syed Ali Gilani’s son and daughter-in-law were injured in police torture at their Hyderpora residence. Dr Nayeem Gilani and his wife received injuries when they resisted the Indian police action. The police tortured the couple and took away with the body of the veteran leader for burial at Hyderpora graveyard in Srinagar.

Ironically, New Delhi is so afraid of Syed Gilani and what he stood for that it has now resorted to this inhuman act even after his passing away.

Indian media subsequently reported that Syed Gilani has been buried. A curfew has been imposed in the Kashmir Valley and all internet services snapped.
