Srinagar, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): The President of National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, has said that the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley should be investigated. Farooq Abdullah in an interview asked the Indian government to appoint an independent judicial inquiry commission to look into the events that will show who was responsible. He also urged the Indian government to take urgent steps for the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits.
Farooq Abdullah has demanded the probe after he is being criticized for not protecting the minorities in the Valley in 1989-90. He latest remarks came following the release of controversial film ‘The Kashmir Files’ in which Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri has distorted the facts regarding the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
During the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits, Farooq Abdullah was the Chief Minister of IIOJK while Mufti Mohammad Sayed was the Indian Home Minister in the V.P. Singh government, which was supported by both the BJP and the Communists. Abdullah has blamed the then IIOJK Governor, Jagmohan, for the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits, and has accused the BJP of using the community as vote bank and doing nothing in return.
