Farooq Abdullah Advocates Dialogue as Path to Peace in Kashmir

Srinagar, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah reiterated his stance that dialogue remains the only viable solution to achieve peace in the conflicted region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a candid interview with an Indian media outlet, the former chief minister expressed hope for a shift in India’s government following the Lok Sabha elections, anticipating that the new leadership would prioritize dialogue with Pakistan. Despite facing accusations of being a foreign agent, Abdullah remains committed to advocating for peace through dialogue between the neighboring nations.

Abdullah’s comments come amid recent violent incidents in the region, which he believes should be investigated by international agencies to ensure transparency and justice. He also mentioned the expectation of assembly elections in the region after the conclusion of the Amarnath Yatra this year, highlighting the local desire for self-governance and the restoration of normalcy.

In his critique of the current Indian government’s policies, particularly those of the BJP, Abdullah voiced concerns over attempts to alter the Indian Constitution and emphasized the broader goals of the INDIA bloc to address poverty, inflation, and unemployment rather than merely seeking power.
