Jammu: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, has voiced significant concerns regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) treatment of the residents of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), accusing the party of persistent betrayal and outlining a commitment by the NC-Congress alliance to restore local rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Abdullah stated that the BJP’s policies and their locally installed administration have put the future of every segment of Kashmiri society at risk. He emphasized that the BJP has not only failed the people of Jammu but also neglected the broader region of IIOJK.
Abdullah criticized the BJP for not fulfilling their expansive promises of job creation and investment, highlighting the adverse effects of job losses and external contracts on the local population. He detailed the NC-Congress alliance’s objectives to prioritize local control over jobs, minerals, and cultural preservation.
Concluding his statement, Abdullah questioned the absence of the promised benefits, pointing to increasing toll taxes, and the lack of essential services like electricity and water, which continue to challenge the youth in the region.
