Farewell and Welcome Ceremony Held for DG Rangers Sindh in Karachi.

Karachi: In honor of the outgoing and newly appointed Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh, a ceremony was organized by the Sindh Police at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The event was attended by Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, the outgoing DG Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas, the newly appointed DG Rangers Sindh Major General Muhammad Shamriz, and senior officers from both the Police and Rangers in Sindh.

According to Sindh Police, the ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a short thank you note. IG Sindh presented a shield to the retired DG Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas in recognition of his services in the province. The appointment of DG Rangers was officially handed over to Major General Muhammad Shamriz. IG Sindh extended his congratulations to the new DG on behalf of himself and the Sindh Police.

IG Sindh expressed gratitude to Lieutenant General Azhar Waqas, DG Rangers Major General Muhammad Shamriz, Additional IGs, DIGs, and other officers for their participation in the ceremony. He emphasized the importance of departmental development and credited Lt. Gen. Athar Waqas for his contributions towards this goal through his hard work and professional abilities. He acknowledged the positive role played by the Rangers in maintaining peace and order in Karachi, as well as in operations against bandits in the Kacha area.

The joint efforts of the Police and Rangers were highlighted through the recent Shikarpur operation, which resulted in the elimination of nine bandits and injuries to over thirty others. The operations led to the restoration of schools and hospitals in the affected areas. The concerted actions have demoralized criminal elements and the anti-crime operations continue with full dedication.

IG Sindh also congratulated Major General Muhammad Shamriz on his new role, highlighting the challenges faced in maintaining peace in Karachi, which is crucial for the country’s overall security. He emphasized that the cooperation between Sindh Police and Rangers remains their core strength.

Lt. General Athar Waqqas, who retired from the position of DG Rangers Sindh, expressed his gratitude to IG Sindh and senior officers for organizing the farewell ceremony.
