Islamabad: Family pressures have emerged as the leading source of stress for Pakistanis, surpassing concerns about employment and finances, according to the WIN Worldviews Survey 2026. The survey highlights that 29% of the Pakistani respondents identified family issues as their primary stress factor, followed by unemployment concerns at 22% and financial issues, including money and debts, at 21%.
According to Gilani Research Foundation, the source of the press release, the survey provides a clear contrast between stress sources in Pakistan and global trends. Internationally, jobs and financial concerns each account for 32% of stress cases, followed by family issues at 29% and health at 28%. The survey, conducted among a nationally representative sample of 1,000 Pakistani adults, also found that health-related stress was reported by 13% of participants, while job-related stress was mentioned by 16%.
The survey’s global findings reveal a tendency for employment and financial worries to outpace family concerns, a pattern reversed in Pakistan. Political and international issues are less frequently cited in Pakistan, with only 4% of respondents identifying domestic politics as a stress factor compared to 18% globally. The survey, conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, involved telephonic interviews across urban and rural regions, demonstrating a margin of error between ± 2-3 percent.
