Srinagar, January 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, two months after the Hyderpora fake encounter killings, a family of one of the three martyred civilians Muhammad Altaf But is still waiting for the magisterial probe into the incident.
On 15 November, last year, three civilians Muhammad Altaf Butt, a resident of Barzulla; Dr. Mudasir Gul, a resident of Budgam and Amir Ahmad Magray, a resident of Ramban, were killed in the fake encounter in Hyderpora area of Srinagar. Police alleged that the youth were martyred in a gunfight.
However, the families of Butt and Gul raised questions about the police claim and demanded an independent probe into the incident. On 19 November, a magisterial probe was initiated into the incident and the report was supposed to be submitted within 15 days. However, the outcome of the investigation is yet to be made public.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Saima Butt, niece of Muhammad Altaf, said that two months have passed neither the magisterial report has been made public nor has the family been provided the FIR, autopsy or ballistic report. Butt said that the family had also requested for a fresh FIR into the “murder” of their kin. Sharing Butt’s tweet, senior National Conference (NC) leader Ruhullah Mehdi deplored that the family is alone in the quest for justice.
