Family Alleges Foul Play in Death of SPO in Poonch, Demands Investigation

Jammu: The family of Mohammad Asif, a Special Police Officer (SPO) who served as a personal bodyguard for a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, protested in Poonch district, demanding a thorough investigation into his death. Asif’s body was found with a bullet injury near the BJP leader’s residence in Surankote, sparking allegations of murder against political figures and calls for justice.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the family and relatives of Asif have openly disputed the police’s initial characterization of the death as accidental. They assert that the circumstances of his death indicate deliberate harm, contradicting official reports. During their protest, they voiced concerns and met with police officials, demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.

The situation has ignited significant community unrest, with residents and supporters joining the family’s calls for accountability and transparency. The local police have faced pressure to address the allegations seriously and to conduct a comprehensive probe to uncover the truth behind Asif’s untimely death.
