Family Alleges Foul Play in Death of SPO in Poonch, Accuses BJP Leader

Jammu: The family of Mohammad Asif, a Special Police Officer (SPO) who served as the personal bodyguard to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, has protested in Poonch district, alleging his death was not an accident but murder.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Asif’s body was discovered with a bullet injury near the BJP leader’s residence in the Surankote area of the district. The family has vehemently rejected the initial police reports labeling the death as accidental, insisting that foul play was involved.

During the protest, Asif’s relatives and a group of local supporters vocally demanded a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of his death. They accused the associated BJP leader of involvement in the incident, urging the police to consider this angle in their investigation.

The incident has ignited significant unrest within the community, with many echoing the family’s call for justice and a transparent inquiry. The police are under increasing pressure to address the allegations promptly and to hold any guilty parties accountable.
