Lahore, November 13, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that protection of life and property of citizens, speedy and easy provision of services, transparent and impartial system of self-accountability are among the top priorities of the department. He directed to install Facial Recognition Cameras (FRC) outside the police stations and their monitoring backup system should be attached to the control room of Central Police Office.
The installation of this state-of-the-art system is aimed at monitoring the movement of citizens in police stations and police response. IGP said that this system will eliminate traditional police culture, touts and favours (safarish culture).
He directed the officers to resolve issues of aggrieved applicants in police stations on priority basis and supervisory officers must ensure timely redressal of all citizens coming to police station for various grievances. He said that backup of all digital data of Punjab Police should be shifted to Safe Cities Authority for further utilization of Safe City project for more effective public service delivery.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that for the convenience of the people, effective use of IT applications should be ensured and process of upgrading IT applications should also be continued in the light of feedback received from the citizens.
He issued these instructions while presiding over a high-level meeting on IT projects and their upgradation at the Central Police Office here today. During the meeting, the ongoing steps of police regarding IT projects and their upgradation were reviewed.
Instructing the officers, IG Punjab further said that the use of modern technology to make public service delivery easier and more efficient is the need of the hour. In this regard, all Apps of Punjab Police including women safety app, police service center app, Rasta app should be made more easy and understandable for the citizens.
He further said that in order to curb crime, special focus should be laid on modern methods of investigation and expertise so that the process of uprooting of criminals could be expedited and they may be get sentenced by the courts. He directed that DIG IT and DIG Safe Cities Authorities should enhance their mutual coordination and follow-up for integration of digital data of Punjab Police in order to accomplish this important task without any delay. The meeting was also attended by DIG Safe Cities Authorities Kamran Khan, DIG IT Iqbal Dara, Director Computer Bureau Raja Talat and other officers.
