Islamabad, Recent developments have brought to light the exposure of fabricated and malicious propaganda concerning the Pakistan Army’s deployment on election duty. The disinformation campaign, aimed at maligning the military’s role during the electoral process, has been linked to certain political factions seeking to manipulate public perception for political advantage.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, these political elements have been inciting security troops deployed for election duty, subsequently recording and disseminating videos of riots and anti-army sentiments on social media platforms. The ministry highlighted the role of absconder YouTubers, based outside the country, in spearheading this disinformation campaign against Pakistan, emphasizing that such actions are aimed at creating chaos and instability within the nation.
The relevant institutions have initiated efforts to identify those engaged in spreading these falsehoods on social media, with plans to undertake strict disciplinary action in accordance with the law. This comes in response to attempts by these anti-national elements to undermine the security and integrity of Pakistan’s electoral process.
The deployment of Army and Civil Armed Forces, as mandated by notifications from the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Ministry of Interior, is strictly for providing security outside the offices of Returning Officers (ROs) until the conclusion of the election process. This measure is intended to safeguard the Election Commission and polling stations during a critical time.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting clarified that the troops stationed outside the ROs’ offices are solely tasked with ensuring external security and are not involved in the election process itself. Despite this, certain political leaders and their supporters have been actively engaged in misguiding the public, inciting the security forces, and propagating anti-army rhetoric online.
This revelation aims to correct the narrative and reassure the public of the armed forces’ commitment to maintaining a secure and transparent electoral environment in Pakistan.
