Karachi: Advisor to the Chief Minister on Livestock and Fisheries, Syed Najmi Alam, emphasized the need to breed tuna fish by desalinating seawater to meet the European Union’s required standards. He expressed these views during a meeting at his office with a delegation led by Mrs. Novella, Chairperson of RSW System, which included Muhammad Umair, Muhammad Ahad, and Muhammad Asim, Director of Operations at Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, during the briefing, Syed Najmi Alam was informed that the RSW system requires breeding tuna fish using desalinated water. A plant is already in place to produce ice and snow from fresh water on boats, which will help keep the tuna fish fresh for export, offering significant potential for foreign exchange earnings. The delegation also introduced this new technology to the market, urging the Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority to take full advantage of it.
Syed Najmi Alam reiterated that the provincial government is committed to leveraging every opportunity to lift the European Union’s ban on fish exports, aiming to boost the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
