Chandigarh: An explosion in a general coach of the Howrah Mail train in Punjab, India, resulted in injuries to four passengers on Sunday near the Sirhind railway station in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the blast originated from a plastic bucket filled with firecrackers inside the train’s general compartment as it traveled from Amritsar to Howrah. GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Singh confirmed the incident and reported that the injured individuals, including a woman, were promptly taken to Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations by the Government Railway Police suggest the explosion was accidental, involving firecrackers that were being transported in the train. Forensic samples have been collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation into the specifics of the incident.
