Srinagar, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Police have arrested a group of six persons including an ex-Indian army man who had killed his colleague during his Kashmir posting for looting and plunder on the Patiala-Sirhind road in Indian Punjab. The arrests were made by Patiala police in an incident that had taken place on June 6. “The accused had looted Rs 15,000 from a filling station on the Patiala-Sirhind road on June 6. They also snatched the security guard’s rifle and vandalised the property,” the media reports said.
Senior superintendent of police Sandeep Kumar Garg told the media that one of the accused involved in the case is a former Indian army soldier Harbhajan Singh, who was convicted for life for murdering his colleague during his posting at Naushera in Jammu and Kashmir in 2007.
“He was shifted to Patiala central jail where he jumped his parole. The main accused, Vishal Kumar, formed the gang along with Harbhajan and four others, and committed robberies in different parts of the state,” Garg was quoted saying.
