Every citizen has right to profess, practice his respective faith in Pakistan: CJP

Islamabad, August 18, 2023 (PPI-OT): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial says every citizen has the right to profess and practice his respective faith in Pakistan.

He was talking to an eight-member delegation of the Sikh community which called on him in Islamabad.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan briefed the delegation about the rights of minorities as enshrined in the Constitution.

He said courts in Pakistan are the custodian of the fundamental rights of the people and safeguarding minorities’ rights is the fundamental duty of the state.

He said considerable measures have been taken to safeguard the religious properties of the minorities.

The delegation presented a souvenir of a golden Kirpan to the CJP.
