EU Ambassador Meets Pakistani Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties


Islamabad, Ambassador Riina Kionka of the European Union met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan today, discussing ongoing cooperation and future engagements between Pakistan and the EU.



According to Press Information Department, during the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the congratulatory messages from EU leaders regarding his re-election and reaffirmed his desire to enhance relations with the EU. He highlighted the friendly ties between Pakistan and the EU and was pleased with the existing institutional mechanisms that facilitate regular discussions to boost cooperation further. Particularly, the Prime Minister appreciated the EU’s support through the GSP Plus scheme, which has been extended until 2027. He also showed interest in engaging with the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy via the European Investment Bank and sought EU assistance in providing consultancy for significant reforms in various sectors.



Ambassador Kionka updated the Prime Minister on several cooperative initiatives, including ongoing dialogues on migration and mobility and the support for European businesses in Pakistan. Discussions also covered the progress in resuming flights from Pakistan to EU countries, enhancing connectivity and economic interaction.
