Islamabad: Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Jemal Beker Abdula, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, today at the Finance Division, where they discussed economic reforms, bilateral trade, and educational cooperation.
According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister welcomed Ambassador Abdula and shared insights into Pakistan’s current economic reforms aimed at achieving economic stability. These reforms include enhancements in foreign exchange reserves, improvements in state-owned enterprises, and advancements in the power sector, which have led to positive evaluations from international rating agencies and a favorable economic outlook by Fitch reports.
Ambassador Abdula commended Pakistan’s efforts towards macroeconomic stability and shared Ethiopia’s similar strategies, particularly in currency stabilization and economic resilience. The discussion also covered the potential for increased bilateral trade and financial cooperation, which both parties agreed could foster mutual prosperity. Additionally, Ambassador Abdula proposed educational initiatives, including student exchange and scholarship programs, to enhance educational and cultural ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan. Senator Aurangzeb expressed support for deepening bilateral relations and welcomed the proposed collaborations.
