Ethiopia Eyes Collaboration with Pakistan in Higher Education


ISLAMABAD: Ethiopia has expressed interest in leveraging Pakistan’s expertise in higher education to enhance its own human resource development, according to a meeting between the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, and the Chairman of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.



In a meeting held in Islamabad, both officials explored potential areas for bilateral cooperation within the higher education sector. The discussions focused on how Ethiopia could benefit from Pakistan’s extensive experience in this field.



Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula emphasized Ethiopia’s eagerness to utilize the knowledge and experience that Pakistan holds in higher education. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of such collaboration for the development of Ethiopia’s human resources.



In response, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed assured the Ambassador of the HEC’s full support. He expressed readiness to facilitate institutional partnerships and provide opportunities for Ethiopian students to pursue higher education in Pakistan’s public sector universities.



This meeting marks a step towards strengthening educational ties between the two countries, with both sides showing a commitment to mutual development through shared academic expertise.
