Karachi: The Sindh Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing animal health by establishing a Provincial AMR Zoonotic Laboratory at the Sindh Institute of Animal Health in Korangi. This facility aims to conduct research and develop vaccines for diseases affecting domestic animals, birds, and aquatic life. The announcement came during the inauguration ceremony, where Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries, emphasized the laboratory’s role in diagnosing diseases and formulating treatments.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the newly established lab is crucial for the welfare of both wildlife and domestic animals, including cattle. By utilizing the laboratory, researchers will be able to identify diseases and determine appropriate treatments, particularly for fish and poultry. Syed Najmi Alam highlighted the importance of equipping the Livestock Department with modern technology to support a 20-year modernization program. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive facilities for animal care, benefiting cattle owners throughout Sindh by enhancing the services offered by animal health institutions.
