Islamabad: A delegation led by Abdul Qayoom, the Chief Executive Officer of Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EPCL), met with the Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, to discuss the challenges facing the polymer and chemical industry and to seek government support for enhancing industry competitiveness.
During the meeting, Abdul Qayoom highlighted the difficulties the industry is experiencing, particularly concerning tariff structures and regional competition. He underscored the necessity for a level playing field and policy support to allow local manufacturers to thrive and contribute effectively to the national economy.
The minister assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. He stated that the government would explore viable solutions to support the chemical and manufacturing sectors.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized that strengthening local industries is a priority for the government. He acknowledged the importance of stakeholders’ input in shaping trade and industrial policies.
The minister further assured that the Ministry of Commerce would collaborate with relevant departments to address the issues raised. He highlighted the government’s commitment to exploring options to enhance the industry’s export potential and overall growth.
