Enhanced Security Measures for 772nd Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Announced


Karachi, In anticipation of the 772nd Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shehbaz Qalandar, scheduled from February 29 to March 2, the Sindh Police have announced comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims and attendees. IG Sindh Rifaat Mukhtar Raja has directed the implementation of extraordinary security measures, emphasizing the need for fool-proof security in collaboration with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies.



According to Sindh Police, IG Sindh Rifaat Mukhtar Raja outlined a multi-layered security strategy that includes increased intelligence operations, extensive CCTV monitoring, and engagement with local dignitaries and stakeholders for enhanced vigilance. The directive also calls for the clearance of encroachments on access roads and the establishment of remote parking facilities to prevent congestion near the shrine. Furthermore, bomb disposal units are to be stationed strategically throughout the site, with additional protocols for thorough inspection and clearance processes.



The IG stressed the importance of coordinated patrolling, picketing, and snap-checking on major highways and secondary roads to regulate the influx of devotees from various provinces. District-level security provisions, led by SSPs, SDPOs, and SHOs, are tasked with ensuring the safe passage of pilgrim caravans to the shrine.



The police have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or items to authorities immediately. This proactive approach aims to foster a secure environment for the thousands expected to partake in the revered Urs celebrations, reflecting the devotion and respect towards Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.



The enhanced security measures reflect the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and safety during significant cultural and religious gatherings, ensuring that the spiritual journey of pilgrims remains undisturbed.
