Lahore: In preparation for the upcoming cricket matches at Gaddafi Stadium, Dr. Usman Anwar, Inspector General of Police Punjab, chaired a critical meeting at the Central Police Office to deliberate on the security arrangements. High-ranking officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board, NESPAK, and Punjab Police were present to review and enhance the safety measures while ensuring an aesthetically pleasing view for the spectators.
According to Punjab Police, the meeting focused on proposals to redesign the protective fence separating the spectators’ enclosures from the ground boundary. The new design aims to be not only visually appealing but also compliant with strict security SOPs. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the dual benefits of the redesign, noting it would bolster security for players and spectators alike while enhancing the overall viewing experience.
During the discussion, IG Punjab highlighted the ongoing efforts to secure the stadium effectively, ensuring that cricket enthusiasts can enjoy international matches without concerns for their safety. The proposed security measures are intended to be foolproof, contributing to a secure and enjoyable environment at the stadium. Coordination among various stakeholders was also discussed as a crucial element for the success of these initiatives.
The meeting saw participation from several key figures, including Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director of Infrastructure at the Pakistan Cricket Board, Senior General Manager Usman Bajwa from NESPAK, and top officers from Punjab Police such as Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG Operations Punjab, and DIG Operations Lahore. Their collective expertise is set to enhance the match-day experience, ensuring comprehensive security and satisfaction for all attendees.
