Enhanced Russia-Pakistan Road Connectivity Envisioned to Boost Bilateral Trade


Islamabad: In a significant development aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and regional connectivity, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Board of Investment and Privatization, Abdul Aleem Khan. The discussions focused on establishing a road link from Russia through Central Asia to Karachi Port.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting centered on creating a comprehensive road connectivity framework that would not only benefit Pakistan and Russia but also facilitate trade for other Central Asian nations. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative, citing economic and geographical benefits that could accrue from enhanced trade relations with Russia and Central Asian countries.



Ambassador Khorev expressed Russia’s readiness to support Pakistan in this endeavor with financial and technical resources, highlighting the potential of such infrastructure to transform regional trade dynamics. The proposed road connectivity through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan as a trade corridor could redefine economic interactions in the region, positioning Pakistan as a central trade hub.



The discussions also touched upon the possibilities of initiating direct flights between Islamabad and Moscow, further enhancing bilateral relations. This meeting marks a proactive step towards realizing a long-envisioned strategic partnership between the two nations, promising significant economic and geopolitical benefits.
