Lahore: The Board of Directors of the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has assigned the look-after charge of the Managing Director position to Engr. Muhammad Waseem Younas. This decision, made during the board’s 281st meeting, is effective immediately and will remain until a permanent appointment is made. An official notification has been issued to formalize this assignment.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, Engr. Muhammad Waseem Younas, who currently serves as the Deputy Managing Director (SO) at NTDC, brings over 34 years of experience in the power sector. His educational background includes a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. Engr. Younas has contributed to important areas of the energy sector, including the development of power system expansion plans, cross-border studies, and interconnection schemes for both conventional and renewable energy projects.
His work also includes addressing grid system constraints, enhancing system stability, and reviewing consultants’ feasibility study reports. Engr. Younas has been instrumental in preparing project documentation such as PC-1s and PC-IIs for NTDC projects, developing the Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP), and Transmission System Expansion Plan (TSEP). He has also been involved in drafting the Grid Code and supporting network expansion for DISCOs and KE. Furthermore, he played a role in facilitating the enactment of the Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM) and executing system operator functions under the CTBCM roadmap.
Engr. Younas also possesses considerable experience in negotiations with international donor agencies, project developers, consultants, and various government entities. His expertise extends to future transmission projects and plans for grid performance improvement. Additionally, he has undergone training with both national and international institutions to further enhance his capabilities.
Following the official notification, Engr. Muhammad Waseem Younas has assumed his responsibilities as the Managing Director at NTDC.
