Srinagar: Independent MP Engineer Rashid, representing the Baramulla Constituency of the region known as Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, is scheduled to take his oath as a Member of Parliament on July 5. However, specific conditions have been placed on his oath-taking, including restrictions on media interaction.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Patiala House Court is expected to issue a ruling on July 2 concerning Rashid’s petition for interim bail or custody parole, which he requested to ensure his presence in Parliament for the ceremony. Rashid, arrested in 2019 on charges related to his involvement in pro-freedom activities in occupied Kashmir, secured his parliamentary seat by winning the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on June 4 with 454,950 votes, defeating Omar Abdullah.
